the holidays

lots of food. lots of presents. lots of wine. lots of love.
That sums up the holidays! Even though I was far away from my family, they still managed to send their love to Telluride. It was the little things like a fraser fir candle (so our house could smell like Christmas since we didn't have a tree) or a recipe for hollandaise sauce to make Christmas morning, it felt like my family was there in spirit. To top it all off, Luke and I rang in the new year with fireworks on Main St. followed by a concert and late night burgers. I'm excited to see what 2014 brings!

the best sunday

Sunday was a great day. I got off work early. Luke got an awesome job as a sandwich maker at one of my favorite spots in Telluride. I skied for the first time in my life (it was awesome!). After skiing I had the apartment to myself and decided to set up Christmas decorations, listen to holiday music, and eat mint M&Ms. The best Sunday.

Life Lately

You see that cute little trailer up above ^^ That is where I am writing you from today :) That trailer, aka Coffee Cowboy, is one of my new jobs in town! Yes my friends, I am learning all about espresso, steaming milk, and making you fancy yummy drinks (speaking of, I so want to try to make this)! It's a slow day at the cart since it is still off season so I thought I would catch y'all up. Last time we spoke I was jobless, but I am happy to say that I'm working at Coffee Cowboy and a clothing boutique called Toggery :) The Toggery is the only boutique in town that carries Free People so I am super stoked about that! Other than working, I have done a few notable things:

Celebrated Halloween!
Awesome pumpkin carving (^^check out Luke's reaction to our scary movie tehe)

my pumpkin dressed up as a snowman :)

on halloween all the school kids paraded down main street in their costumes!

Mountain Biking in Fruita, CO
This was an experience. This was only my second time so I only did the easy run (Kessel) twice. It was awesome! Yet, once I arrived back at the car I found out that Luke took a spill, dislocated then relocated this finger, and then on the next run he flipped over his handle bars! He is still learning too, so the only reason he took such a bad beating was because he challenge himself with hard runs. But still, he's a BA...I mean he still rode after all of those injuries!

Roaming the streets of Telluride...

and getting awesome things like this kayak. Oh, you want to know how much it cost us? 4 cartwheels in a row. I'm serious. That is what makes this town rock :)

Hikes & Thoughts

I've been feeling a little out of my element - feeling like my boot stompin' self does better near a city. I have been missing the energy of a fast paced life and I've been missing having a Target closer than 1hr away. Luckily, a few hikes and a game of Cards Against Humanity with new friends helped change my mind. I'm beginning to think that spending a year a little off the grid might be just what I need.

I wanted to share some photos from my hikes last week. You can see how the seasons are a little confused here. One hike was so reminiscent of wintertime, whereas the second hike was right on cue with fall. Personally, I'm digging the fall colors. I still have yet to satisfy my pumpkin flavored everything craving, so I'm glad I have a little more fall left!

We have arrived!

Well, we made it! We have arrived in Telluride :) The first day we were here it was gorgeous fall weather (as you can see in the first few pictures). Then, unexpectedly, the cold flew in and the next day it snowed like it was Christmas morning - huge snowflakes and all! We ended up getting about 3 inches in town. I enjoyed my first Telluride snow by eating pumpkin oatmeal in bed, taking a gondola ride to Mountain Village, and applying for jobs - isn't that what everyone does on the first day of snow?! All jokes aside, it is currently hard to find jobs since most places in town are closed down until Thanksgiving, which is when the season picks back up. But, Luke and I are trying our best and going out every morning to apply at different places! So wish us luck :) Otherwise, we're exploring Telluride and setting up the apartment!
